Dos - Don'ts
Up Weather Issues Chemicals Quality Time The Litter Box Dos - Don'ts

Important Dos

  • Be aware of things in and around your house that might harm your pig such as sharp corners, exposed nails or staples. Be aware of openings which a pig could get stuck.
  • Block off entries to drainage ditches and any places where holes are being dug.
  • Provide plenty of toys to entertain your pig. Some they seem to like are stuffed animals, cloth dolls, empty boxes, large wooden blocks, old newspapers, and large rubber balls.
  • Spend time playing with your pig. Play can be teaching and practicing tricks, or just walking around the yard.
  • Provide exercise for your potbellied pig. It is best to have an outside area which your pig can run and play.
  • Take him or her on a walk.  It helps tone your pig, and provides and opportunity to socialize with other people.

Important Don'ts

  • Allow your pig to play in driveways, or near roads with heavy traffic or noisy equipment is being operated.
  • Tease you pig. Period.
  • Allow your pig to take part in strenuous activity, particularly in warm weather. This will lead to overheating and can be fatal. Quiet walks during cool morning and evening hours is most beneficial
