Up Feeds Guidelines Dos - Don'ts

The following feeding examples are guidelines only. Individual potbellied pig metabolisms vary and feed levels need to be adjusted accordingly.

Potbellied Piglets Nursing to 6 weeks

  • Free-feed of starter ration.

Potbellied Pigs 6 weeks to 3 months

  • Gradually decrease from free-feeding until each piglet receives l to 1 -1 /2 C. of grower per day

Potbellied Piglets and Breeding Stock 3 months to adult

  • Approximately 2 C. of maintenance ration per day
  • Lactating Gilts Nursing females can be fed free choice, or follow this guideline: 2 C./day plus and Sows 1 cup for each suckling piglet. Example: Sow with five pigs would receive 7 C./day
  • Boars Feed according to need, from 2 C. to 8 C./day depending on level of activity/condition.
