Overview

Many things contribute to a healthy pig.   This section of the Information Center will help you explore some aspects that contribute to a healthy pig.

  • Explore environmental issues that may impact a pet potbellied pig, like the weather, household chemicals and the effect of time spent interacting with these wonderful beings.
  • Educate yourself to general medical issues and learn how to respond to medical emergencies -- even identifying critical first aid supplies to have on hand -- just in case.
  • Learn about various feeds available and how to obtain them.
  • Check out Dos and Don'ts for other health-related tips
  • Read more.  There are several excellent books available to assist you in your educational process.  They are listed in the bibliography page of General Medicine section of the Information Center.

The information contained in this section is in no way exhaustive, but is an attempt to touch on some common problems and offer some common sense guidelines to the potbellied pig owner or soon-to-be owner.

Your veterinarian will no doubt offer some other ideas and suggestions to keep your pig healthy and will be a valuable partner in your pet's health care.
