Social Interacting
Up Training Social Interacting Resources

Dos - Don'ts

Understanding the world from a pig's point-of-view is critical to helping shape their behavior as a companion in our world.  Learning the potbellied pigs "modus operandi" will be an asset in raising, training and integrating them into our homes.

By their very nature, pigs are social animals.  Pig "families" hunt together, play together, sleep next to each other and even rub each others bellies!

As this section of the Information Center develops, participant-visitors will be able to:

  • Understand the pigs natural behavioral tendencies:
    • scratching
    • rooting
    • playing
    • wallowing
    • social interactions and dominance
    • communication and "language"
    • motivation
  • Identify strategies for socialization and integration.

If you are interested in writing articles or being an editor for this section, please complete an information form in the News section of the Information Center.
